About Gokyo Lake Trekking
Less frequented trail with high austere beauty and outstanding views
While most trekkers head for Everest Base Camp the beautiful, dark and austere waters of Gokyo Lake are well worth a visit. An early morning climb to the viewpoint of Gokyo Ri (5360m) reveals an equally dramatic panorama to that from Kala Patthar. It is possible to cross over to the main trail in the Khumbu valley at Dughla or Lobuche via the Cho La pass, but this requires caution and is not advised in snowy conditions. There are lodges on both sides of the pass at Dragnag and Dzonglha.

Katmandu by flight to Lukla (2830m) and trek to Phakding (2630m). |
Day 02: |

Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3480m). |
Day 03: |

Namche Bazaar acclimatization day. During the day, you can hike to Thame for beautiful Himalayan views and wildlife, and visit the Tibetan Monastery or hike to Everest View Hotel for superb views of Everest (8848m). Overnight at Namche Bazaar. |
